The City of the Soaring Dragon is a must-visit destination in Vietnam.

About the destination: Ho Chi Minh City, previously known as Saigon, is the biggest city in Vietnam. It's a contemporary, vibrant, and bustling city. It's economically dynamic, teeming with lively markets, and is undeniably the country's commercial hub. Despite being the most modern city in the country, it maintains a distinct Vietnamese essence and remnants of its illustrious Colonial past as the former "pearl of the orient" are still visible. In the heart of the city, which locals still fondly call Saigon, you'll find some of the city's main attractions such as the Opera house, railway station, Notre Dame cathedral, Reunification Palace, the Saigon river, and the Markets. If you need a break from the city, you can take a tour to the Mekong Delta or to Da Lat, if you have more time. Da Lat, situated in the highlands about 300km from the city, is worth the journey as there's plenty to see and do including waterfalls, gardens, the old French Quarter, and local restaurants serving fantastic local cuisine. Siem Reap town is the gateway to Angkor. Siem Reap is a laid-back and pleasant French colonial-style town situated on the banks of the Siem Reap River. Approximately 6 kilometers from town are the ruins of the ancient city of Angkor, the capital of the Khmer kingdom and one of the world's great marvels. The City of Kings, Angkor consists of some of the largest religious monuments ever constructed. It is considered one of the most beautiful and important archaeological sites in Southeast Asia. The over 100 temples seen at Angkor today are the surviving religious remains of a massive social and administrative metropolis. The temples are spread out over a very large area and need multiple days of viewing. Angkor Wat is the cultural home of the Khmer people and known as one of The Seven Wonders of the World. Siem Reap town is an enjoyable place to stay while touring the temples.

Although much of the city's French charm has faded, a few beautiful French colonial buildings still remain. The Riverside district, known for its delightful river walk, is filled with hotels, restaurants, and bars that overlook the river, making it a convenient location for visiting the main tourist sites. The primary tourist attractions in Phnom Penh include the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, the Killing Fields, the National Museum, the Royal Palace, the Silver Pagoda, and the Wat Phnom temple. Currently, Phnom Penh is one of the fastest-growing cities in Southeast Asia, boasting high-end cuisine, a vibrant arts scene, and a wide variety of markets. Phnom Penh is a worthwhile destination and serves as a convenient base for exploring the rest of the country.
