Aurangabad is a city in India located in the state of Maharashtra on the banks of the Kaum River, a tributary of the Godavari. It is named after the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb. The city serves as the capital of the Aurangabad Division and the Marathwada region. Known as a tourist destination, it boasts several nearby monuments. Additionally, it is one of the fastest-growing cities in recent times, with a population of 872,667 according to the 2001 census. One of the main attractions is the Bibi Ka Maqbara, a mausoleum built by Aurangzeb between 1651 and 1661 for his deceased wife, Dilras Banu Begum.
